Rex Archer is director of Health for the City of Kansas City, MO and founding chairperson of the National Association of County & City Health Official (NACCHO) Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness Task Force. In these roles, Archer has testified before the U.S. Senate Appropriations subcommittee of the Labor Health & Education and has given presentations on the terrorism threat and the preparedness of the public health system to such groups as the U.S. Conference of Mayors Emergency, Safety & Security Summit in Washington DC on Public Health Response and the Women in Government State Directors Conference regarding state legislators' roles and oversight of state health departments. He has served as a senior advisor to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Health Care Research and Quality and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Future Public Health Threats Advisory Group. He also is a member of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services State-wide Bioterrorism Oversight committee. Prior to coming to his present position in Kansas City, Archer completed his medical degree with the University of Kansas, his General Preventive Medicine Public Health Residency and Masters in Public Health degree at the University of Michigan and is recognized as a Public Health Leadership Institute Scholar by UCLA/CDC.
