Bob Baker
is deputy metropolitan editor of the Los Angeles Times, supervising reporters who cover race, ethnicity, demographics and religion in Southern California. He has been a newspaperman for 31 years, the last 23 at The Times. His reporting included three years as The Times' labor writer. He is the founder of The Times' newsletter on writing, "Nuts & Bolts," and the author of "Newsthinking," a book on mental organization for journalists.
