Eric Auchard
coordinates Reuters' technology news coverage, worldwide. He works both as a reporter and editor. The job requires pulling together a network of more than 200 reporters and editors from Helsinki to Melbourne to Abidjan who write and produce tech, media, telecom and science news. Auchard has built an internal, Web-based system that allows reporters to share information and communicate with one another efficiently and around the clock. He grew up in what we now call Silicon Valley but was once known as a tentacle of something called the military-industrial complex. He attended the University of California, Berkeley and Birmingham University in England, where he studied history and journalism. Auchard began covering politics for Reuters in 1992, and switched to technology writing in 1993. He has covered the rise of the Internet and technology industries ranging from semiconductors to software to mobile communications.

What fellows have to say about past seminars:
"The WKC fellowship 'Covering Fisheries' was a great education on fisheries issues from Alaska to Mexico, and the contacts made during the week-long session have lasted for many years, as have the friendships made with other fellows. "
