March 11 - March 14, 2002
University of Southern California/Annenberg School for Communication
"New Media Skills: An introduction and more…" combined practical instruction in multimedia reporting and editing with discussions addressing cross-media trends, the issues involved with bringing technology into the newsroom, and emerging protocols such as XML. Sessions gave participants hands-on instruction in computer-assisted reporting, as well as a variety of digital editing tools and multimedia applications, and a practical session on voice-over training. As a bonus, fellows attended the annual Online Journalism Conference to be held March 14-15 and sponsored by the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. The theme of the conference this year was: "The Third Wave: Doing It Right."
What fellows have to say about past seminars:
"Fabulous program. Invaluable in terms of connecting with sources and resources available to journalists interested in criminal justice."
